Me encanta disfrutar de la comida y rodearme de gente que disfruta igual que yo. Además, si encima te gusta cocinar, el plan solo puede salir bien. Así es como di con Alberto. Hizo una cena en casa, colaborando con Jiu Choi, y me llamó la atención. Hice scroll down en su perfil, -Alberto's profile- y no dudé en escribirle.

Sin saber muy bien cómo iba a desarrollarse todo esto, Alberto aceptó desde el primer momento y quedamos a tomar algo en Casa Tabacos.

A, what is being cool for you?

Asocio la palabra cool con personalidad, estilo y gusto. Es decir, algo o alguien cool para mi tiene un estilo propio, no tiene por qué seguir modas y si tiene un toque outsider mejor que mejor.

No soy ningún experto de cafeterías pero recientemente estuve en el obrador de Alma en Quintana y me encantó el espacio. -Aquí lo tenéis-

The Coolest places for pasta and pizza?

El concepto cool normalmente no va de la mano con los sitios en los que encontrar una buena pasta o una buena pizza. En Italia, por lo menos, si el sitio es un poco sketchy suele ser un buen indicador de que la pasta estará al dente y la pizza será buena. En Madrid, sin embargo, para la pasta recomiendo siempre Mercato Ballaró o Trattoria Manzoni y para la pizza me gusta ir a Nap, Fratelli Figurato y recientemente descubrí Pizza Pronto. Un local “cool” para una cena agradable puede ser el de Parking Pizza aunque para mí, hay pizzas mejores :)

Linguini alle vongole y pasta con pez espada y berenjena, (la hago solo en verano).

The Coolest plans in your favorite city?

Mi ciudad favorita es Madrid. Me encanta ir a mercados, aunque algunos se están volviendo demasiado mainstream y han perdido la esencia de lo que realmente es un mercado: olores, gritos, productos auténticos… Creo que el Mercado de la Cebada, el Mercado de los Mostenses y el Mercado de Antón Martín mantienen esta esencia aún.

Otro plan que me encanta es ir al teatro y al cine. Mi cine favorito de toda la vida en Madrid es el Verdi de Bravo Murillo (V.O.S.E., siempre). La Cineteca del Matadero suele tener también una programación muy interesante y El Teatro Español buena cartelera.

Otro planazo en Madrid es cogerte el coche y darte un paseo entre el olivar del Palacio de la Quinta, es un sitio único para respirar un poco. El encinar de la Casa de Campo es otro sitio fantástico para respirar o hacer un picnic.

La Alquimia o Cuenllas Salesas  para vino y para una buena cerveza hay que irse a los bares de Huertas. En especial La Dolores y el café El Diarío.

The Coolest places for a date?

Bar Hawaiano de la Plaza Santa Ana, coctelería en calle Pez, Bar Candela para un sarao o una expo en la Fundación Juan March.

The Coolest Rome secrets?

Pasear por Tévere empezando en Ponte Milvio, el mercado de segunda mano de Villaggio Olímpico, las vistas de Roma desde el Monte Mario, pasta en Via Giulia…

Nos reímos mucho, y, entre otras cosas, me contó el por qué llevaría a una primera cita al Bar Hawaiano de la Plaza de Santa Ana, jaja. Gracias A, nos vemos pronto :)!

I love to enjoy food and surround myself with people who enjoy it as much as I do. And if you like cooking on top of that, the plan can only go well. That's how I met Alberto. He had a dinner at home, collaborating with Jiu Choi, and he caught my attention. I scrolled down to his profile, -Alberto's profile-, and I didn't hesitate to write to him.

Without knowing very well how all this was going to develop, Alberto accepted from the first moment and we met for a drink at Casa Tabacos.

A, what is being cool for you?

I associate the word cool with personality, style and taste. That is to say, for me, something or someone cool has its own style, it doesn't have to follow fashions and if it has an outsider touch, all the better.

The Coolest place for a coffee?

I'm no coffee shop expert but I recently visited Alma's bakery in Quintana and loved the space. Here it is!

The Coolest places for pasta and pizza?

The concept of cool doesn't usually go hand in hand with places where you can find good pasta or pizza. In Italy, at least, if the place is a bit sketchy it is usually a good indicator that the pasta will be al dente and the pizza will be good. In Madrid, however, for pasta I would always recommend Mercato Ballaró or Trattoria Manzoni , for pizza I like to go to Nap, Fratelli Figurato and I recently discovered Pizza Pronto. A cool place for a nice dinner could be Parking Pizza although for me, there are better pizzas :)

Your Coolest recipe?

Linguini alle vongole and pasta with swordfish and aubergine, (I cook it only in summer).

The Coolest plans in your favorite city?

My favourite city is Madrid. I love going to markets, although some are becoming too mainstream and have lost the essence of what a market really is: smells, shouts, authentic products... I think the Mercado de la Cebada, the Mercado de los Mostenses and the Mercado de Antón Martín still maintain this essence.

Another plan I love is going to the theatre and the cinema. My all-time favourite cinema in Madrid is the Verdi de Bravo Murillo (V.O.S.E., always). The Cineteca del Matadero also usually has a very interesting programme and El Teatro Español has a good line-up.

Another great plan in Madrid is to take the car and take a walk through the olive grove of the Palacio de la Quinta, a unique place to breathe a little. The holm oak grove of the Casa de Campo is another fantastic place to take a breath or have a picnic.

For wine, La Alquimia or Cuenllas Salesas and for have a good beer you have to go to the bars in Huertas. In particular La Dolores and El Diarío.
